A news brief: KRS-One has written a 600-page tome that he expects will one day be the holy text of a hip hop religion.
According to AllHipHop.com, KRS-One expects the book, “The Gospel of Hip Hop: The First Instrument” to cause controversy, but he will persevere regardless: “I’m saying, well, you know, black people like to say, or Africans like to say, we are the pioneers of civilization, until we get to America and somehow we stop creating civilization. You got Jamaicans, Nigerian’s, Cubans, Brazilians, everybody claiming Africa but Cuba is different from Nigeria. Nigeria is different from African-Americans but African-Americans are different from Jamaicans etc. Asian’s got their own thing going on so why can’t Hip-Hop rise?”
He envisions an inclusive religion, the believers of which would refer to themselves in hyphenates like Hip Hop-Americans or Hip Hop -French or Hip Hop-Croats.
“…respect the Christianity, the Islam, the Judaism, but their time is up.” Mr. -One said of what are now his largest competitors in the Western world. Should “The Gospel of Hip Hop” succeed, the Moses – KRS-One feud will go down as the greatest rap beef in history.
