Okay. Say you’re building a robot. You have to figure out how to power it, right? There’s lots of dead stuff around in war zones all the time, right? Like plant matter and whatnot? So, some enterprising dudes built a robot that could use this environmental material as fuel: the EATR (haha), or Energetically Autonomous Tactical Robot (no picture, unfortunately).
Apparently there was some ethical concern as to having a robot that could eat dead organic matter in a battle situation in order to kill make more dead organic matter in a battle situation, though. Bet you couldn’t guess what that concern might be! However, according to Wired Magazine, the manufacturer has told us all not to worry.
Well, maybe I’m naive, and I’m certainly no robotics expert. But, well, sometimes I worry that we still might be just a little fucked.
